SASA's PTA Facility will produce its own electricity

İbrahim Erdemoğlu, Erdemoğlu Holding Chairman of the Board of Directors, said, "We estimate that we will produce 1 million 500 thousand tons in PTA next year, and the following year it will increase to 1 million 700 thousand."

TRABZON (AA) - Regarding the PTA Production Facility under construction in Adana Seyhan, İbrahim Erdemoğlu, Erdemoğlu Holding Chairman of the Board of Directors, said: 'When PTA first operates, we will provide electricity and then it will produce its own electricity. It is a technology made with gases flying into the air.'
İbrahim Erdemoğlu answered the questions of the press members after the inauguration of the İbrahim Erdemoğlu Sports High School Complex, which was completed by their holding in Trabzon’s district of Akçaabat.
Erdemoğlu answered the question 'Are you considering a public offering of a second company besides SASA? as follows': “Yes, we will offer Merinos Halı to the public next year. That is our intention. It is estimated that it will be in the fifth month of 2025.”
Underlining that the main market in the carpet sector is Europe and America, Erdemoğlu said, “For example, in America, in terms of piece carpet, one in every four carpets sold is Merinos. In Europe, one in every three carpets sold is Merinos.”
Speaking about the petrochemical investment to be made in Adana's district of Yumurtalık by SASA, which produces raw materials for the health, textile, automotive, and packaging industries within Erdemoğlu Holding, Erdemoğlu expressed that they have not started to meet with anyone about a business partnership as the location in Yumurtalık project has not been fully completed, and said, “We will not accept partners to SASA. The companies we will establish there will be partners. It is important. The European and regional president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has visited and toured SASA. We received a loan of 75 million euros from the EBRD for the PTA Production Facility.”
Erdemoğlu shared the information that the investment budget they foresee for the Yumurtalık project is 5,5 billion dollars for the first stage.
- “2025 is the year when what we do will start operating”
Speaking of 2025 targets, Erdemoğlu said that they expect a 60 percent increase in tonnage at SASA, excluding PTA.
Regarding the PTA Production Facility, which is under construction on an area of 375 thousand square meters in Adana's district of Seyhan, Erdemoğlu said, “We estimate that we will produce 1 million 500 thousand tons of PTA next year, and the following year it will increase to 1 million 700 thousand tons. 2025 is the year when what we do will start operating. With what we have done so far and what we will continue to do, we will have completed an investment of 4 billion dollars.”
Pointing out that the PTA Facility they established is environmentally friendly, Erdemoğlu continued as follows:
“When PTA first starts, we will provide electricity and then it will produce its own electricity. It will never use electricity again. It is a technology carried out with gases floating in the air. EBRD has not provided loans to any petrochemical companies as they are not environmentally friendly. It gave a loan to SASA for the first time because it is environmentally friendly in terms of both energy and waste. We reuse 65 percent of the waste in business. We use 34 percent of it in recycling. We will use 1 percent outside. We built our treatment facility there in a structure that has few examples in the world.”
