In addition to base PET and PBT polymer products, specific homo-polymer or co-polymer products for special end uses are also available in SASA’s product portfolio.
Flame retardant co-polymer PET products need prolonged exposure to flame for burning compared with standard PET products, and do not have a tendency to spread flames. This product is used as upholstery material in public transportation vehicles such as buses, trains and planes and in public areas such as shopping centers, cinemas and theaters. Halogen-free phosphor-based co-monomer is directly linked to the polymer chain. Its phosphor content is 5500 ppm.
Standard PET polymer can only be dyed by dispersion dyes once the polymer is formed.Dispersion dyeing entails high cost, requires dyeing equipment with high pressure, and has limited color range. The cationic dyeable copolymer PET product is developed to eliminate these disadvantages.Product becomes dyeable by cationic dyes with the help of a functional co-monomer linked to the main polymer chain. The base end use is textile manufacturing.
There are both PET and PBT copolymer products in SASA’s product portfolio that have a lower melting point than standard polymers. They are used mostly as mono-component or bi-component binder fibers in non-wovens. The melting temperature of the product (Tm) can be adjusted between 110°C and 250°C, and similarly the glass transition temperature (Tg) can be adjusted between 20°C and 80°C.
After the polymerization of polyester, carboxyl end groups remain in the structure of polymer chains. These carboxyl end groups cause hydrolytic degradation when the product is exposed to humidity or water for a prolonged time. SASA’s hydrolysis-resistant polyester product in its product portfolio does not have hydrolytic degradation. Hydrolysis Resistant Polyester is developed to overcome the above-mentioned effects of carboxyl end groups and thus the product life is prolonged. The main end uses are all applications that contact with water consistently.
Water-soluble polyester is a wax like product that is in solid form under room conditions and dissolves in water. It does not have a properly cut shape due to its low glass transition temperature. Water-soluble polyester is used as coagulator in stone washing of denim products, in dyestuffs, binders and cosmetics. PEN is a thermoplastic polymeric material which is formed by the polymerization resulted from the interaction of naphthalate dicarboxylic acid (NDC) with monoethylene glycol (MEG). PEN has a higher glass transition temperature (Tg) than PET. Thanks to its high heat resistance and high mechanical properties, PEN is used in the production of flat screen TVs, printed circuit, reusable food packages, etc. Co-polymerization is possible and the co-polymerization degree can be adjusted according to the end use.
