As SASA’s one of the base products, Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) polymer is a thermoplastic polymeric material formed by the interaction of dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) or terephthalic acid (PTA) with monoethylene glycol (MEG).PET polymer products in SASA’s product portfolio are available for the following end uses:
All kinds of film applications, especially food packaging
Manufacturing of all kinds of plastic materials
Industrial applications requiring high tenacity, such as tire cord manufacturing
Parts of medical equipment and medical materials
Manufacturing of staple/filament fibers and nonwoven
For products manufactured for the film industry, conductivity, which is a very important parameter, can be adjusted very sensitively. In addition to the standard film grade products, there are silica also masterbatch products containing different types of silicas in the product portfolio.
The most common catalyst of PET production is antimony (Sb). Antimony-free PET products for differentiated end uses can be found in SASA’s product portfolio. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is used as a delustrant in products, especially for textile end uses. TiO2 filling is possible between 0.0% and 1.5% by weight.
PET with black color can be manufactured by adding carbon black during polymerization process.
The target viscosity (IV) value in SASA’s PET production technology is 0.64 dL/g. However, it is possible to make amorphous production between 0.48 – 0.70 dL/g IV. Additionally, it is possible to manufacture high IV products, such as 1.20dL/g IV with the existing SSP equipment.SASA can produce all of its products as 100% amorphous, semi crystalline or SSPed.Products are shipped in chips form by bulk containers or big bags.
You can see our differentiated polymer products with the properties developed or modified such as dyeability, hydrolytic resistance, flame retardancy, melting point, glass transition point and water solubility in the Advanced Polymers section.
